We were blessed with the news in mid-January that our youngest daughter, Katie, would be having a sweet baby of her own due in September. Her first baby, and such a blessing. Her fiance was in the Navy at the time and stationed on the West Coast, but would be home for good in May.
Katie wanted to make sure I was there for the first ultrasound appointment in February. We kept it all a secret, only the family knew she was expecting. My surgery was two weeks away from the day I found out. Her doctor's office was able to schedule the ultrasound a little later so that I could be there with her. I was so happy to hear that little heartbeat that day and knew I just couldn't wait to meet this sweet baby.
I'll always remember this timing, it brought a beautiful rainbow, something to look forward to, in the middle of a storm I was facing. We went thrifting one day in mid-January, and to my surprise, I found a little Duke sweatshirt that would fit baby perfectly in the upcoming fall season. I felt like it was a little "God wink" that everything would be ok and to not worry.
We planned her nursery as soon as she found out she was having a baby boy. I gifted her a crib, she had always wanted a navy blue crib. We painted the nursery together and started making a place for her to bring him home to.
With Love,
Amber Hope
